Frequently Asked Questions

How does Form track my exercise?
Form uses Apple's Vision framework to detect 18 body joints from your camera feed in real-time. It calculates the angles between joints (like your knee angle during a squat) and evaluates them against exercise-specific rules to determine if your form is good, needs attention, or needs correction.
What exercises are available?
Form includes 3 free exercises — Squat, Push-Up, and Deadlift Stance — with full coaching, skeleton overlay, and rep counting. Form Pro unlocks 6 additional exercises: Overhead Press, Lunge, Plank Hold, Bent-Over Row, Romanian Deadlift, and Bench Press.
Does Form record video?
No. Camera frames are processed in real-time and immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded, saved, cached, or uploaded. Form has no server to send data to — everything happens on your device.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Form works completely offline. All pose detection, angle analysis, and scoring happens on-device using Apple frameworks. The only feature that requires internet is purchasing or restoring a subscription.
Where should I place my phone?
Prop your phone at about hip height with a side-on view of your body. Make sure the camera can see your full body from head to toe. A well-lit room helps with detection accuracy. Each exercise shows a camera hint before your set.
How accurate is the rep counting?
Form uses a state machine that tracks your joint angles through each rep phase (descending and ascending). It's quite accurate when your full body is visible and you're performing the full range of motion. Partial reps or obscured body parts may affect counting.
How do I subscribe to Form Pro?
Tap any premium (locked) exercise on the home screen, or go to Settings and tap "Upgrade to Form Pro." You can choose monthly ($2.99/month) or yearly ($19.99/year) billing through the App Store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your Apple ID at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Form and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll keep premium access until the end of your current billing period.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Form, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase.
What devices are supported?
Form requires iOS 17 or later and works on any iPhone that supports iOS 17. For best performance, use a device with an A14 chip or newer (iPhone 12 and later), as the Neural Engine significantly speeds up pose detection.

Troubleshooting

Camera not working

Go to iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and make sure Form is enabled. Also ensure no other app is using the camera at the same time. If the issue persists, try restarting the app.

Pose not detected

Make sure your full body is visible in the camera from head to toe. Use a well-lit room and place the phone at the side (not directly in front or behind). Avoid loose-fitting clothing that obscures your body outline.

Rep count seems wrong

Ensure you're performing the full range of motion for each rep. The state machine requires you to hit both the bottom and top angle thresholds. Partial reps or very fast reps may not be counted.

App won't open

Force quit the app and reopen it. If the issue persists, try deleting and reinstalling Form from the App Store. Note: local data like workout history will be removed since all data is stored on-device.

Subscription not recognized

Open Form > Settings and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. If the issue persists, check your subscription status in iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
